Managed an amazing team of website magicians.
Ingenix (now Optum) was a subsidiary of United Healthcare that acquired GeoAccess in 2002. I began working with GeoAccess in 1998 as a Website Developer. By 2000, I had been promoted to Team Lead / Manager of a Website Development Team. I managed a team of 8-10 employees until 2005, when I left the company to start my own business.
It was a privilege to lead such an amazing team. They worked diligently to meet the nearly impossible expectations of our customers consistently. My goal as a manager was to support them with what was needed to reach their goals and motivate them to continue their stellar work. I also strove to create a strong group dynamic through consistent team building activities, as well as to cultivate an environment for personal growth by having consistent one-on-ones with each team member to stay informed on their project status, their workload and their long term aspirations.
“Even in the corporate world it is imperative as a manager to allow an employee their individual voice and utilize the specific gifts that each has to share.”
I truly loved working in a position where I could keep up on technology, but utilize my interpersonal skills as a manager. Leaving that role to take a risk on running my own business was the hardest professional decision I ever made, but ultimately worth it.
