More Than Just a Foot Massage
My first reflexology session was relaxing and invigorating at the same time. I was intrigued by the practice and enjoyed the immense feeling of relief it provided. Drawn to the possibility of giving others that same sense of relaxation, I completed training and added it to my alternative health practice in 2007.
What is Reflexology?
The theory behind reflexology is that specific areas of the feet, hands and ears correspond to organs and systems of the body. Applying pressure to those areas, called reflex points, can provide stress reduction to the correlating areas of the body.Studies by the National Cancer Institute and the National Institutes of Health indicate that reflexology may reduce pain and psychological symptoms, such as anxiety and depression, and enhance relaxation and sleep.
